Elocution Competition at St. Jude School: A Showcase of Oratory Excellence
St. Jude School recently held its annual Elocution Competition for Senior Students, featuring an impressive line-up of participants from Classes 9 to 12. The event, which took place in the school’s auditorium, was a remarkable showcase of both group and individual performances, highlighting the students' oratory skills and their passion for the spoken word. The Competition kicked off with a quote from the famous poet, Robert Frost, setting the tone for the day: " Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words." The first part of the competition featured group recitations by students from Classes 9th to 12th. Each Class chose poems that reflected a range of themes, from the beauty of nature to the complexities of human emotions. The students demonstrated impressive teamwork and coordination, with each group delivering their recitations with clarity, expression, and a deep understanding of the poem’s essence. After the group performances, the Competition transitioned to the individual recitations. The individual participants selected a diverse array of poems, each bringing their unique style and interpretation to the stage. The students displayed a level of maturity and poise that was truly commendable, delivering their poems with powerful voice modulation, emotional depth, and impeccable diction. Their performances left the audience in awe and gave the judges a challenging task of evaluating such a high caliber of talent. As the Competition drew to a close, the judges took time to deliberate, acknowledging the exceptional talent displayed by all participants. The winners of the individual category are: Ayesha Javed (Class 9 Sc C) who took the top spot with "Tummy Beast", followed by Ojasvi Mishra (Class 9 Sc A) with "Courage" by Edward Albert Guest, and Saanvi Rawat (Class 9 Sc B) with "The Quest of Knowledge". In Class 10, Ridhima Tyagi (10 Com B) won first place with "Grandma's Tree Climbing", Yahni Rautela (10 SC A) secured second with "A Considerable Speck", and Aaradhya Bhatt (10 SC B) took third with "The Raven". In the senior classes, Nivedita (11 Sc B) won with "The Echo of Time", Prisha Kohli (11 Com C) came second with "Conquer the World", and Anshika Puri (11 Sc C) took third with "Life Without a Father". Finally, in Class 12, Nishwarth Arora (12 Sc C) won with "The Porcupine", Nisha Gurung (12 Com B) secured second with "Phenomenal Woman", and Alvina Khan (12 Sc B) took third with "Life Doesn't Frighten Me". Congratulations to all the winners on their outstanding performances. In the Group Category, the winning teams from Class 9 are: “A Dreadful Language called English” from 9 Sc C taking the top spot, followed by "The Road not Taken" from 9 Sc A, and "The West Wind" from 9 Sc B. In Class 10, the winners are: "The Brook" from 10 SC C, "On Killing a Tree" from 10 Com A, and "Night of the Scorpion" from 10 SC B. In the senior classes, the winning teams are: from Class 11, "Rise and Shine" from 11 Com B, "On Killing a Tree" from 11 Sc C, and "The Slaves Dream" from 11 Sc B. Finally, from Class 12, the winners are: "Rise above the Darkness" from 12 Com A, "If" from 12 Sc A, and "I am the People, The Mob" from 12 Sc B. Congratulations to all the winning teams on their outstanding group performances! The Elocution Competition at St. Jude School was not merely a Contest, but a celebration of expression and creativity. It provided a platform for students to explore the richness of language, hone their public speaking skills, and connect with their peers through the power of poetry.
