St. Jude’s School holds an Inter House Carol Singing Contest
Christmas is synonymous with the tradition of gifts. The image of Santa Claus driving a sleigh, sliding down the chimney at night to place gifts in the stocking or under the family Christmas tree has mesmerized the imagination of children for ages. Christmas celebrations at St. Jude’s School begin with carol singing. This year our celebrations began with a nativity play depicting the life of Jesus Christ in just six minutes. It was followed by the Inter House Carol Singing competition. The contest was divided into three categories Solo, Duet and Group Singing. The participants were full of enthusiasm and presented the best. In the Solo Singing Category there was tie between Jabez Gurung of Lyons House and Kushagra Keshav of Howard House for the 1st position. They sang beautifully ‘Oh Holy Night’ and Christmas Time’ respectively. Shreya Bhatt of Gardner House sang ‘On Holy Night’ and came third. In the Duet Singing Category Jabez Grung and Surabhi Gurung of Lyons House sang a melodious carol ‘Mary Did You Know’ and was awarded the first position. Sanyukta Chakraborty and Anish Thapa of Howard House shared the second place with Kartikey Barthwal and Nandani Sharma of Gardner House. They sang ‘Angels we have heard’ and ‘Beautiful Star of Bethlehem’ respectively. In the Group Singing Category Howard House students sang ‘O Come all ye faithful’ and stood first. Lyons House students sang ‘Hope was born this night’ and came second. The third place was given to the students of Gardner House for the carol ‘Mary’s Boy Child’. Christmas is a festive time of the year. Giving and sharing, thinking of those around us makes this time of the year special. We at St. Jude’s School take this opportunity to wish each one of you a Merry Christams and a Happy New Year.
