The Woodstock Checkmate Chess Tournament, hosted by Woodstock School on the 11th and 12 th of April, 2025, brought together 11 prestigious Schools for a two-day Chess extravaganza. The participating Schools included St. Jude's School, The Doon School, Woodstock School, Wynberg -Allen School, Kasiga School, Ann Mary School, Tons Bridge School, Asian School, Himalayan Classical Foothills, Guru Nanak Centenary School and Shishya Public School. Format and Schedule The Competition followed the Swiss-system league format, where players compete in a fixed number of rounds against opponents with similar scores. The Tournament spanned six rounds: four rounds on the First day and the remaining two rounds on the Second day. This format ensured dynamic pairings and allowed all participants to play until the end. Results • Champion: Tons Bridge School emerged victorious with consistent performances across all rounds. • Runners-Up: Ann Mary School secured the First Runners-Up position,while Woodstock School claimed Second Runners-Up honors. • St. Jude's Performance: St.Jude's finished Fifth with 7 points (2 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses). Despite their mid-table finish, they showcased remarkable potential and are optimistic about future Tournaments. The Tournament celebrated strategic brilliance and sportsmanship among young chess enthusiasts. Tons Bridge School's triumph highlighted their tactical prowess, while St. Jude's promising display hinted at a bright future in competitive chess.
