On the 2nd of May 2025, the Classrooms and corridors of St. Jude’s Primary Wing buzzed with energy, laughter, and joyful learning as the Students of Classes KG, 1, and 2 participated in an exciting English Phonic and Spelling Charades Activity. Designed to blend learning with fun, the event encouraged Children to explore phonics and spelling through playful interaction.
For Class KG, the focus was on Phonic Sound Charades. Our tiny tots picked Phonic Cards and acted them out in creative ways. They flapped their arms like birds for the /b/ sound, pretended to lick an ice cream for the /y/ sound (as in “yummy”), ticked like a clock for /t/, and pretended to swim like a fish for the /f/ sound. The fun continued with a Phonic Scavenger Hunt, where children searched the Classroom for objects that began with specific sounds. These joyful activities helped them recognise sounds, build vocabulary and grow in confidence—all while having fun!
Meanwhile, Students of Classes 1 and 2 took part in English Spelling Charades. Using actions and expressions, they acted out words while their Classmates guessed and spelled them aloud. The excitement grew with engaging games like Word Bingo, where Children had to listen carefully and identify the correct spellings. These interactive games helped develop spelling, vocabulary, and word recognition in a lively and memorable way.
The English Phonics and Spelling Charades activity brought learning to life. It encouraged thinking, teamwork, self-confidence and most importantly, a love for language. As the Children acted out words and sounds, they built strong connections between movement and meaning—an important part of early literacy.
The day ended with happy faces, loud claps, and proud smiles. Each Child was celebrated for their participation and imagination. Activities like these remind us that children learn best when they are involved, engaged and enjoying every moment of it.
