Caring for the Earth: St.Jude’s School celebrates Earth Day
“Let us take care of the Earth, for it takes care of us.” The Earth is the only home we have. Celebrating the Earth Day reminds us to respect nature, live sustainably, and inspire the others to do the same. On the 22nd of April, the Students of St. Jude’s Primary Wing came together to celebrate the Earth Day with great enthusiasm and awareness. Various creative activities were organised for Classes KG to 2 to help young learners understand the importance of protecting our planet. Class KG took part in a vibrant Earth Day Poster-Making Activity. The little ones worked together in groups, colouring pictures of trees, animals, and the Earth, while their teachers explained the value of keeping our surroundings clean and green. It was a wonderful sight to see their tiny hands spreading big messages about saving the Earth. The colourful posters created by Class KG were proudly displayed on the soft boards, giving the little ones a sense of pride and accomplishment. Classes 1 and 2 participated in an Environmental Show and Tell. The children came dressed as clouds, leaves, flowers, trees, and even the sun, holding placards with thoughtful slogans like “Save Trees, Save Life” and “Be a Friend to Earth.” Students also brought eco-friendly objects from home and confidently spoke a few lines about the characters they represented, spreading awareness in a fun and engaging way. They were also sensitised to how small acts, like switching off lights and fans when not in use, can help conserve energy and keep the Earth happy. Through these activities, the young learners discovered how simple actions can make a big difference in protecting nature and caring for the environment. They understood the importance of planting trees, saving water, reducing waste, and conserving energy in their daily lives. The celebration not only spread awareness but also encouraged children to become young ambassadors of a greener, cleaner Earth. It was a meaningful day that left every child inspired to contribute in their own small ways to protect the planet.
