Late Mr. I.L.G. Mann Inter House Singing Contest
Where words fail, music speaks, music is undoubtedly the language of soul. It is a divine power that heals our mind, lifts our sprit and give solance to our heart. The Late Mr. I.L.G. Mann Singing Contest is organised every year at St. Jude’s School in memory of the Late Mr. I.L.G. Mann’s love for melody. Mr. Mann was a living legend. It is a much awaited day for every House teacher and student who put in their best effort to make this programme a success. The programme was graced by our esteemed Principal Ms. M. Gardner and Ma’am V.R. Gardner. The contest was judged by Mr. Ricky Cash and Mrs. Ragini Shukla Iyer. The Singing Contest was divided into three categories. In the Solo Singing Category the participants had to sing popular hindi songs of all times. The students sang beautiful songs like Labb Par Aaye, Pyar Kiya to Darna Kiya, Khamoshiya and Dil Diwana. In the Solo Singing Category, the first position was bagged by Shourya Aswal (11 Sci.A) from Lyons House. Shraddha Chakraborty (12 Sci.A) stood second from Howard House. The third position went to Prakriti (11 Sci.A) from Khanna House, followed by Rakesh Chettri (11 Sci.C) from Gardner House who stood fourth. The theme for the Duet Category was Musicals from English movies. In this category the winners were Rachael Scott (12 Com. B) and Ayush (12 Sci.A) from Gardner House who sang ‘Beauty and the Beast’. The second position went to two houses Howard & Lyons House. Moulikta Soniyal (12 Com.A) and Parth (9 Sci.A) from Howard House who sang ‘I see light’ from the movie Tangled and Tanishka Sharma (12 Com. B) and Akshat (12 Com. B) from Lyons House sang ‘Rewrite the stars’ from the movie, The greatest Showman. The third category was the Group Song Category and the theme was Walt Disney Musicals. In this category, the first position was bagged by Howard House. They sang Arabian Nights. The second position went to Gardner House. Their song was, How far I’ll go. The Third position was given to Khanna House for their song Do you wanna build a snowman. Our honourable Principal, Ms. M. Gardner gave away the prizes to all the winners and motivated all the students with her inspirational words. She said magic was seen on stage because so many participants worked so hard to portray legends. She said their reward was the memories and the journey that an event like this creates.
