Literary Festival 2024 "Le Mot Juste" held at Wynberg Allen School

Literary festivals are beautiful celebrations of art forms that touch everyone’s life. These festivals enrich language skills, deepen cultural understanding and enhance the learning experience.
The "Le Mot Juste" - Literary Festival organized by Wynberg Allen School, Mussoorie on the 27th of April 2024 demonstrated the same.
The fest invited students from renowned schools across the country such as St. Jude's, St. Joseph's Academy, St. George's College, Welham Girls', RIMC, The Oasis, Oak Grove, Shri Ram Centennial, Doon International School, Bishop Cotton Boys' ( Shimla), La Martiniere Girls' and Boys' College.
This festival offered a diverse array of activities and discussions that delved into various genres, themes and writing styles, fostering dialogue and debating skills among the participants.
The Literary Festival commenced with a warm welcome ceremony followed by a series of events showcasing the talents of the students in English and Hindi Debates, Recitation, Story Telling, Spell Bee and Movie Review Competition.
The first event of the day was English Recitation where the students from different schools captivated the audience with their heartfelt presentation highlighting their mastery over the language and poetic expression.
Dev Kumar Kamboj of Class 7 brought to life the beauty and rhythm of poetry leaving the audience spellbound at The Cynthia Burrell Inter-School English recitation.
Sidhant Satsangi of Class 8 B narrated the story where the characters of the story came to life on the stage, leaving the hall echoing with the applause and appreciation of the audience.
Shreya Chauhan of Class 6 and Agrim Chandra of Class 8, Aakriti Mittal of Class 9th and Aayushi Uniyal of Class 11 demonstrated impeccable spelling prowess in the highly anticipated Spelling Bee Competition.
Agrim Chandra brought laurels to School by securing the coveted 1st position in the Junior's Wing category of The Rev. Biggs Inter-School Spell Bee.
Engaging in thought-provoking debates, students explored a range of topics from Social Issues to Current Affairs, presenting well-researched arguments and eloquent rebuttals.
Arijit Solanki and Kushleen Kaur of Class 10 participated in The G.D. Lehmann Inter- School Debate while Ananya Bisht of Class 12 and Anshika Puri and Aditi Sehgal of Class 11 were active participants of The T.W.Phillip Inter-School English Debate. They performed exceptionally well and though they didn’t place, they impressed all those present with their rhetoric.
These Debates not only showcased students' ability to articulate their view points effectively but also encouraged critical thinking and intellectual discourse.
Tanishka Goswami and Shreshtha Negi of Class 12th proved their Hindi oratory skills at The H G Meakin Inter-School Hindi Debate.
Another interesting event of the day was the Movie Review. Ayushi Uniyal of Class 12 being a part of the event had an opportunity to experience and have a better understanding of the essential elements of movie making like plot, character development cinematography and soundtrack.
Thus this literally festival provided a platform for students to not only exhibit their talents but also to stimulate a deeper appreciation for language and literature. It was a testament to the School's commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excelled not only academically but also in areas of creativity and expression.
