SILVER FIESTA 8TH EDITION AT KASIGA SCHOOL
Kasiga School hosted an Inter-School Movie Critique Competition on the 23rd of August, 2024, to showcase the analytical talent of students from various prestigious schools in Dehradun. Many renowned schools from in and around Dehradun participated in this interesting event like Doon International School Riverside campus and City Campus, Mussoorie International School, Vantage Hall, Wynberg Allen School, The Aryan School, St.Jude’s School, Kasiga School and Him Jyoti School . The event was judged by an esteemed panel - Mr.Abhishek Kapoor, Mr.Rahul Kothiyal,Ms.Maindola and Ms.Bhumika Chandola. Their extensive experience and expertise in the field of cinema and storytelling provided valuable insights to the young critics. The film chosen for the event was the acclaimed documentary, “The Elephant Whisperers”. This powerful and emotional documentary follows the story of a couple in South India who dedicate their lives to caring for an orphaned elephant in the only camp where wild Asian elephants are taken care of. The movie's themes of environmental conservation, human-animal relationships, and cultural heritage provided ample material for in-depth analysis. The students displayed exceptional critical thinking and eloquence in their presentations, dissecting the film's narrative, cinematography, and emotional impact as well as the symbolism in the colour palettes and music set in the movie. They discussed the ethical implications of wildlife conservation, the delicate balance between tradition and modernity, and the profound connection between humans and animals, all portrayed beautifully in the film. The judges were impressed with the level of engagement and understanding demonstrated by the participants. They praised the students for their thoughtful observations and the way they connected the film's themes to the broader societal issues. In the end, the Competition highlighted not only the students' analytical skills but also their appreciation for Cinema as an Art form. The event hosted by Kasiga School was a resounding success, leaving all the participants and judges inspired by the power of storytelling and the importance of critical reflection on films. The Competition culminated in a grand announcement of winners. Doon International School was declared the Winner. The First Runner-up position was bagged by Doon International School Riverside campus, while Kasiga School won the Second Runner-up spot. Additionally, the Jury Choice Award was bestowed upon The Aryan School, recognizing their unique perspective and insightful analysis. St.Jude’s School ‘s team were praised by the judges for their thoughtful efforts.
