St. Jude's School Special Sports Day
St. Jude’s School’s Special Sports Day 2021-22 The Founder of the Olympics, Pierre De Coubertin, once said, “The important thing in life is not victory but combat; it is not to have vanquished but to have fought well.” The Annual Sports Day is a long-standing tradition in the school’s history. Every year, gleaming faces march to the symphony of discipline and unity and thus blooms, harmony and integrity. The Sports Day was organised on 11 March, 2022. The morning air was embellished with enthusiasm and a radiant smile on each face. This year at St. Jude’s School, a ‘Special Sports Day’ was organised, celebrating unity in the face of challenges posed by the pandemic whilst observing the necessary COVID-19 protocol. The idea behind our Sports Day was to ensure the students of Class 12 created memories that are such an important part of School life. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr R.V. Gardner; President, St. Jude’s School, Principal, St. Thomas’ College &Ex MLA (Uttarakhand). The function commenced with the Senior Squads of the four houses marching in unity, led by the School Captains, Neal and Aishi Arora. Each step taken was bound by honour and enthusiasm, leaving everyone awestruck. Following the opening March-past, was the splendid Yoga display, that saw the Yogis of St Jude’s invoking a prayer for World Peace through the asanas. It was indeed a magnificent vision to behold. Yoga is the art of conquering the mind and its desires and thus becoming whole. As the proceedings carried on, the races filled the air with amusement and excitement, as the spectators lauded the young athletes for their spectacular performance and sportsmanship. The students competed house-wise in various events including 100 m, 200m, 4x100 m and relay races. The event drew to its close with the Closing March-past followed by the distribution of prizes by our Principal Mrs. V.R. Gardner to the students for their excellence in athletics. The winners of the Girls March-Past was Howard House and that of the Boys March-Past was Lyons House. There was a tie for the Athletic Cup between Gardner House and Lyons House. The proud winners Aashni Singh, Jai Chaudhary, RamanshKapil, Neal Gardner, Gargi Chaudhary, Abhishek Kumar and SheetalSemwal were honoured with numerous accolades by our Principal Mrs. V.R. Gardner. The individual champions were RamanshKapil and Aashni Singh. A vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. V.R. Gardner, Principal, St. Jude’s School. The ardour of the entire Student Body filled the day with vigour and energy and made it extraordinary and memorable. “Life is as tedious as a twice-told tale; one that is written and one that is told through time.”
