St. Jude’s wins Inter School Folk Dance Competition ‘Folk Vibes 2023’ held at Kasiga International School

Kasiga School, Dehradun hosted ‘Folk Vibes’ an Inter-School Folk Dance Competition in commemoration of the International Dance Day on the 29th of April, 2023.
Folk Dance Forms reflect the life of people of a certain region or country and are a vernacular usually a recreational expression of the past or present culture. Each participating School was to send a dance ensemble in in costumes that aligned with the prepared folk dance form to be judged by a panel of three judges, Ms. Sweety, Kathak Dancer, Ms. Vidisha Aggarwal, Bharat Natyam Dancer and Arshpreet Kaur, Bhangra Dancer. This year a total of thirteen schools had participated namely, Welham Girls School, YPS Patiala, Wynberg Allen School, Mussoorie, DPS Dehradun, Ecole Globale International School, Unison World School and the Tons Bridge School, to name a few.
Each School’s troupe brought their unique style and interpretation to the stage, making the competition a truly vibrant and exciting event.
Our young Thaddeusians troupe of 15 dancers performed ‘Gato Dandia Raas’. The troupe comprised students namely Ashmit Verma, Priyansh Prakash, Manvendra Singh Rajpurohit, Anshuman Sharma, Kshitiz Walia, Mridul Lohani, Vaishnavi Chandel, Aadya Mishra, Aanchal Rawat, Aaditri Dharmvanshi, Kritika Lohani, Anshika Bajaj, Anshika Aggarwal, Ridima Tyagi and Anushka Singh were adjudged, the Winners.
They wowed the judges with their exceptional technique, staggering moves and outstanding originality. The Tons Bridge School were adjudged the 1st Runners Up followed by the Unison World School and the Ecole Globale International Girls School which were both declared the 2nd Runners Up.
Congratulations to the St. Jude’s team who was trained by Mrs. Shama Kukreja (their dance teacher). She worked tirelessly with her group of dancers. You truly deserved to win! Well Done
