St. Jude’s School team win the Runners Up Trophy at the Capta Caelum –Reach for the Sky Contest

A cultural festival was hosted by Wynberg-Allen School, Mussoorie on the 14th of May, 2022 where a number of renowned Schools like Ecole Globale School, St. Joseph’s Academy, RIMC, CJM Hampton Court (Mussoorie), Mussoorie Public School, Shri Ram Centennial School, Kasiga School, Mussoorie International School, St. George’s College (Mussoorie), Mayo Academy (Ajmer) and Yadavindra Public School (YPS), Patiala participated.
The festival was meant for the students from Classes 9 to 12 and there was lots of enthusiasm visible among them, especially since the festival was being held after a span of two years.
There were about 8 different events in which St. Jude’s School competed. They were as follows:
1. Hindi Duet and Blues- A Musical Treat. Shraddha Chakraborty’s vocalising of ‘Manwa Lage’, hypnotised all and drew accolades from all present there. She was accompanied by Ishan Semwal. On Keyboard was Joseph Abraham and on drums was Priyansh Prakash. They were trained by Mr. Allen George. St. Jude’s band entertained one and all with a fusion of ‘Manwa Lage’ and Riders on the Storm’ and were declared the 1st Runners Up.
2. Ensemble – Headgear and Dress with the theme ‘Tribes’, was praised by all. The team was trained by Mrs. Meenu Bhardwaj.
3. Cantel De Cine – In the Poster Making’ event our team was trained by Mrs. Meenu Bhardwaj.
4. Mime – with ‘Emotions’ as the theme this year. Adrina Kumar and Akshat Dhyani captivated the audience with their 3 minute act portraying different emotions like Love, anger, disgust without words, using only gesture, movement and expression. Adrina Kumar was adjudged the ‘Most Promising Mime Artist for portraying the role of a girl at different stages of life from youthfulness to an old mother. The team was trained by Mrs. Nitu Mehra and Mr. Prashant Sharma.
5. Stand Up to Stand Out – ‘travel by local, a platform was given to all young comedians skills. The theme was ‘Travel by Local Transport which was skilfully performed by Sarbesh Chatterjee. He was trained by Mrs. Nitu Mehra and Mr. Prashant Sharma.
6. ‘Code 22 – Website designing where the theme was ‘Birds’ and was the theme given to the students. They were given four hours to design their website. The team was trained by Mrs. Veena Chandel.
7. In Focus- a photography competition where Pranav Nichani had to submit a photograph on the given theme clicked from within the School campus. He was trained by Mr. Prashant Sharma and Mr. Prakash Shahi.
8. Tarang – a dance event with the theme of Indian Folk Dance.
St. Jude’s team presented ‘Thappattam’ a very old traditional folk dance from the villages of Tamil Nadu. In ancient times, Thappattam was used to gather the villagers to convey some important messages like the beginning of war, announcement of victory, forthcoming celebrations etc. They were trained by Mrs. Shama Kukreja.
Our young Thaddeusians mesmerised the audience with their effacious moves and vibrant costume, perfect synchronizations and expressions.
It was a moment of great pride and joy when St. Jude’s School was declared the 1st Overall Runners Up. The winning trophy went to St. Joseph’s Academy.
The Principal, Mrs. V.R. Gardner, Vice Principal, Ms. M. Gardner congratulated the participants and teachers who had trained the various team for their perseverance and hard work.
It is indeed a matter of pride to see our young Thaddeusians excel and shine amongst some of the best Schools in the Country. We look forward to many more such opportunities and victories.
