BRIGHT MIND FEST AT ST.JUDE’S SCHOOL FOR OUR JUNIORS

St. Jude's School organized its first Inter-House Festival known as Bright Mind Fest for the students of classes 3,4 and 5 on the 22nd and 23rd of August, 2024. This Fest was held for the first time at St. Jude's School for the Junior Section i.e. Classes 3 to 5, in which the following Inter-House Competitions were held:
1. Inter House Junior Debate
2. Inter House Creative Writing Competition
3. Inter House Quiz
4. Inter House Art Competition
On Day 1, the 22nd of August 2024, two Competitions were held:-
1. The Junior Section Debate
2. Creative Writing
The Junior Section Inter-House Debate:-
All the participants in the Inter-House Debate were student teams from Khanna House, Lyons House, Howard House & Gardner House respectively. Each House Team had been selected and coached by their respective Junior School House Teachers. The topic for the Debate was `Is Technology Making Us Smarter ?’The debate was held, focusing on nurturing, developing, and fostering the speaking skills of our junior children with the motive to enhance their Public Speaking Skills, Critical Thinking, and Research Skills.
Two students from each House skillfully presented their views on the topic, one For and one Against the topic.

The following were the Winners of the Junior Debate:-
Lyons House was declared the Winner of the debate and bagged the First Prize. 2nd Position went to Howard House. 3rd Position went to Khanna House and 4th position went to Gardner House. Samridhi Sehgal was adjudged the best speaker of the debate
Creative Writing:-
Creative writing is like opening a door to a world where anything is possible. For children, it's a way to let their imagination run wild and create stories, poems, or plays that are all their own. Whether they dream of magical kingdoms, talking animals, or heroic adventures, creative writing lets them bring those ideas to life on paper.
These were the topics that were given to students to choose from:-
1) A Day in the Life of My Favorite Animal
2) If I Could Fly, Where Would I Go?
3) The Secret Door in My House
4) My Adventure in a Magical Forest
5) The Day I Discovered I Had Superpowers
6) A Letter to My Future Self
7) The Mystery of the Missing Treasure
8) If I Were the President for a Day
9) A World Without Technology
10) My Best Friend is an Alien
The Children were given one hour to write on the topic they selected.
The following were the Winners of the Creative Writing Competition:-
In First position was Laiba Rehmat from Lyons House. In Second position was Araadhya Sharma from Gardner House and in the Third position was Manya Gupta from Khanna House.
On Day 2, the 23rd of August 2024, two Competitions were held:-
The Inter-House Quiz Contest, Inter-House Junior Art Competition and
Inter House Quiz Contest. An Inter-House Quiz Contest is a fantastic event as it brings together students from different Houses to compete in a quiz format, often involving a range of subjects or topics. Many topics are covered which motivates students to learn more than just the material covered in the required curriculum and pursue new interests. In addition to enhancing academic knowledge, quizzes can assist students in gaining critical abilities such as rapid thinking, clear communication, and problem-solving. An Inter-House Quiz Competition can be a rewarding experience that blends education with competitiveness and cooperation in a friendly setting.
The Inter House Quiz Contest was held on 23rd August 2024. There were a total of six rounds: General Questions, Logical Reasoning, Current Affairs, Visuals, Buzzer and Rapid Fire. Each team got 20 seconds to answer a question. The correct answer for each question fetched 10 points each while the wrong answers didn't cost any points. When a team was unable to answer a question, it was passed down to the other team in succession. The correct answer for the passed down question fetched 5 points each. The buzzer round involved each group surrounding the buzzer and clicking the buzzer first; upon hearing the question, to answer that question.

Howard House: Mukund Yadav, Athan Singh Rawat, Adhrit Khattri,
Khanna House: Ayaan Chand Ramola, Soumya Singh and Divyansh Verma
The Winners of the Inter House Quiz Contest were:-
In First place was Howard House. In the Second place was Khanna House. The third place was a tie between Lyons House and Gardner House.

The Junior Art Competition:-
An Inter House Art Competition was also held on the 23rd of August, 2024. Art competitions help artists of all ages to improve their skills, gain recognition, build their portfolios, and connect with others.
All the participants were given one hour to draw and colour a piece from their mind's eye. Each class was given three topics to choose from and create a piece of art from their imagination.
The topics were Dream House, Imaginary World, and Duty of Nature.
The Winners of the Inter-House Art Competition were:-
In the First place was Avantika Chaudhary from Gardner House. In the Second Position was Ishanvi Rawat from Lyons House and in the Third place was Aishwarya Mendhrath from Khanna House.
Bright Mind Fest ended on a positive note after having taught its participants to skillfully speak, read, write and draw in an outstanding manner!
