PEANUT SHELLING AND POPCORN PASTING
Engaging Nursery and Pre-Nursery children in hands-on activities like peanut shelling and popcorn pasting greatly enhanced their fine motor skills and sensory experiences. These activities proved to be both enjoyable and educational, promoting dexterity and hand-eye coordination while allowing children to explore different textures in a fun, interactive way. In their classrooms, teachers introduced raw peanuts, demonstrating how to shell them. This hands-on demonstration encouraged Nursery and Pre-Nursery students to use their fingers to twist and pull the shells apart, fostering not only skill development but also a sense of accomplishment as they worked with their hands. Following the peanut shelling, the popcorn pasting activity invited children to create colorful designs on construction paper using popped popcorn and glue. This creative process allowed them to express themselves artistically while also practicing their fine motor skills. Both activities provided ample opportunities for social interaction, as children shared their experiences and creations with classmates. Discussions about food sources and the significance of peanuts and popcorn enriched their learning, making it both enjoyable and meaningful. By incorporating these engaging activities into their curriculum, educators nurtured a love for learning and supported the developmental needs of young children, creating a vibrant classroom environment filled with curiosity and creativity.
