When words are both true and kind, they can change our world." - Buddha In the bustling halls of St. Jude's school, where ideas converge and opinions clash, the Inter House Debate Competition held on the 27th of April, 2024 was a testament to the intellectual vigor of our students. With minds sharp and arguments polished, students from each house gathered to engage in a battle of words, seeking to unravel the complexities of a pressing issue,should social media platforms impose age restrictions for users under the age of 16? The proposition echoed through the auditorium, sparking fervent discussions among the participants. The affirmative team, poised and determined, presented compelling arguments advocating for the safeguarding of young minds in the digital realm. Citing concerns over cyberbullying, exposure to inappropriate content, and the detrimental effects of excessive screen time, they urged for supervision to shield the innocence of our youth. Conversely, the opposing team, armed with eloquence and conviction, championed the ideals of freedom of expression and the empowerment of young voices. They argued that imposing age restrictions would hinder access to valuable educational resources, stifle creativity, and undermine the autonomy of individuals to navigate the digital landscape responsibly. In the end, as the judges deliberated and the tension lingered in the air, it became evident that the true victor of the Inter House Debate Competition was the spirit of inquiry itself. As per the points scored by each orator, the final tally was as follows Khanna House won the Competition, Gardner House came second followed closely by Howard House. Dev Kamboj from Class 8E was the Best Speaker for the day. As the curtains closed on yet another successful event, the Inter House Debate Competition stood not only as a celebration of intellect but also as a testament to the enduring spirit of inquiry that defines our Community.
