The Annual Late Mr. I.L.G. Mann Inter House Singing Contest 2019

Singing is the hidden language of the soul and is also an act of creation.
Music binds our heart, soul and emotions. It is the best method of relaxation. It cheers the spirit and lightens the heart. Infact through singing children learn to express their feelings and thoughts.
To bring out the singing talents of young Thaddeusians an Inter House Singing Competition was organised at St. Jude’s School in memory of the Late Mr. I.L.G. Mann, a visionary in the field of education found solace in music. He loved both life and music.
The melodious songs pulled the heart strings of the audience. Each house showed their mastery over voice modulation, pitch, rhythm and tone. They had to sing songs from the years 1980 to 1990.
The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of our Principal Mrs. V.R. Gardner and Vice Principal Ms. M. Gardner.
The judges, Mr. S. Imbert, Mrs. D. Imbert and Mrs. Gracy Bhasin thoroughly enjoyed the mellifluous songs. They were impressed with the confidence, the tonal quality and fervour with which our children sang the song.
The songs presented in the English Solo Singing Category were – ‘I will be right here waiting for you…’ originally sung by Richard Max, ‘Hotel California from the album Eagles, ‘Like a Virgin…’ originally sung by Madonna and written by Billy Steinberg & Tom Kelly and the song ‘I am Women in Love…’ originally sung by Barbara from her album Guilty. Shraddha Chakraborty from Howard house was judged as the winner.
In the Hindi Duet Singing Category song like “Ye Ladki Jara Si Diwani Lagti hai…’ from the movie Love Story, ‘Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaye…’ from the movie Jurm, ‘Janoo Meri Jaan…’ from the movie Shaan and O’Maria, O’ Maria…’ from the movie Sagar. Kushagra Keshav and Sanyukta Chakraborty from Howard House were declared as the winners.
The theme for the Group Singing Category was Patriotic song which included ‘Mere Desh Me Rahe Shanti…’, Teri Mitti…’, Kandhon Se Milte Hain Kandhe…’ and Ae Watan…’. These songs invoked a strong sense of patriotism in each one of us who listened. Howard House was adjudged as the winners.
The Vidya Bisht award for the Best Singer was awarded to Kushagra Keshav.
The prizes were given away by our Principal Mrs. V.R. Gardner. She shared her views about the Competition and also gave her valuable suggestions to help our children perform better in the future.
