Mindspree-2023-24 (Day-2) Inter -School English Extempore Debate Contest

“Debating is not about proving your point it is about showing others
the validity of your perspective. An English Extempore Debate Contest
was organised on the 18th of August,2023.
The Schools that participated were Summer Valley School, Wynberg Allen School, Mussoorie, St. Thomas College, Ann Mary School, Shri Ram Centennial School and St. Jude’s School.
The Students were given an hour for the preparation and soon the teams were ready to showcase their great oratorical skill. The Topic for today’s Debate was This House believes that Free Speech is Non-Negotiable.
The participants articulated their viewpoints with clarity, logic, critical thinking and left a lasting impact on the audience. The Debate Contest provided a platform where minds met, ideas clashed and voices resounded with passion and conviction.
The Chief Guest for the day was Dr. Arvindanabha Shukla, Principal, Shri Ram Centennial School.
The Contest was judged by Mrs.V.Kalia and Mr.Harry Sethi. The team from Summer Valley School were declared the Winners while the team from St. Jude’s School were declared the First Runners-up. As we were the Host school, we gave away the Trophy to Ann Mary School were the First Runners Up. Anwesha Singh from Summer Valley School was declared the Best Speaker. Nayesha Negi from Summer Valley School was adjudged the Second-Best Speaker and Samridhi Singh from Wynberg-Allen School was declared the Third Best speaker.
The melodious rendition of songs like ‘Hallelujah’and ‘You Raise me up’ made the event memorable.
The Chief Guest Dr.Arvindanabha Shukla, Principal, Shri Ram Centennial School gave away the prize and appreciated the critical thinking and persuasive communicative skills of the Contestants.
Mrs.N.Mehra was the Master of Ceremony. The Timekeeper was Mr.Amotosh Singh.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. M.Gardner, Principal, St. Jude’s School.
