St. Judes celebrates its Silver Jubilee Speech and Prize Day
Twenty five glorious years have passed since St. Jude’s School came into being and the torch of knowledge has lit up the lives of thousands so far. St. Jude’s School saw a special commemoration of 25 years on the 2nd of November, 2019. It was a day marked with immense euphoria as it was a much awaited moment, the Silver Jubilee Speech and Prize Day wherein, students put in their best in order to put up a spectacular show. Mr. R.V. Gardner, Ex-MLA (Uttarakhand), Founder President, St. Jude’s School and the Principal, St. Thomas’ College was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The Chief Guest was accorded a warm welcome with a bouquet of flowers and a loud round of applause by one and all. The panel of dignitaries consisted of Mrs. V.R. Gardner, Principal, St. Jude’s School, Mr. G.I.G. Mann, MLA (Uttarakhand), Mrs. S. Mann, Principal, Carman School, Dalanwala, Mr. D’Monte, Principal, Shri Ram Centennial School, Mr. D. Hilton, Principal, Hilton’s School, Mr. S.D.’Costa, Principal, Frank Anthony Public School, New Delhi, Col A.K. Pundir, Principal, Constancia School and other esteemed guests. The consolidated report of the School was presented by the Principal, Mrs. V.R. Gardner. Students were awarded for their academic excellence and for winning laurels at various State and National level competitions and Co-curricular activities. The most coveted title, The Pride of St. Jude’s School (Girl) and The Pride of St. Jude’s School (Boy) were conferred upon Aarushi Prabhakar and Sanmeet Singh respectively. The following students were acknowledged for their excellence in different areas. B) MICHELLE’S CUP FOR EXCELLENCE (BEST ALL ROUND GIRL STUDENT) ISHITA AGGARWAL (XI COM. C) Our Chief Guest spoke about the achievements of the School since its inception and also highlighted the milestones achieved during the last 25 years. He spoke about why the School he began was called St. Jude’s School, and spoke about the beginnings of this blessed institution. The cultural extravaganza kicked off with an audio-visual presentation. It highlighted the team work that the staff and students put in during the preparations for this special day. Memories, a Documentary that displayed on screen the last 25 years on campus followed.   It was an effort to capture the highlights, activities, academic progress and the achievements of Thaddeusians and the teaching staff during the last 25 years. It reminded us how St. Jude’s set out on a stormy voyage with grit, belief, hope, hard work and brought about exemplary change for the better, in uncountable lives. The audience enjoyed witnessing a variety of plays. They sat back awestruck as the students from Junior School put up ‘Cinderella’ that belied their tag of a Junior play. Students took everyone on a journey that included magic spells, fantasy and conveyed the message of kindness towards all, forgiving others for doing wrong. The play was directed by Ms. Richa Verma, Mrs. A. Nagarkoti, Mrs. S. Oberoi, Mrs. Suchi Arora and Ms. R. Ahluwalia. The costumes and props were designed by Mrs. A. Chaudhary, Mrs. G. Kohli, Mrs. M. Arya, Mrs. J. Shepherd and Mrs. M. Bhardwaj. The dance had been choreographed by Mr. W. Lakra and the play was recorded by Mr. Rajeev Massey. Between the intensely pleasant performances, the anchors for the evening, Neal Gardner, Lavanya Mishra, Aduvet Raizada, Ananya Kandwal, Justin Gardner and Manvi kept the audience well entertained. The School Choir sang popular English and Hindi songs. The famous John Lennon’s song Imagine, ‘Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe Ho Nissar…’ and ‘Madhuban Khushboo Deta Hai…’ were sung melodically by the students. These special performances received an extremely spirited response and witnessed viewers tapping their feet to the catchy tunes. Indeed these songs are still loved and will be loved forever. The students from Middle and Senior School presented the Musical Mugal-e-Azam. It was the penultimate event based on the 1960 Bollywood film. It portrayed the love story between Prince Salim (who went on to become Emperor Jahangir) and Anarkali, a court dancer. The play depicted the conflict faced by Mughal Emperor Akbar, his responsibility towards the future of his empire and his duty as a father of his beloved son. The entire St. Jude’s family exhibited the inimitable Drama Mughal-e-Azam, it is not an effort made in few days but the display of metamorphosis that began 2 years ago. The immovable pillars of School during the tempestuous and bright days rendered unfailing support and guidance every moment to infuse life into the most memorable page of Indian history. The combination of music and dance and the tasteful interiors of the School created an atmosphere of joy, peace and celebration. The vibrantly coloured costumes, the extravagant and scintillating stage setup, the Dolby sound effects, the spontaneous sport lights, mesmerizing melodies ‘Jab Pyar Kiya To Darna Kiya…’, Teri Mehfil Mein Qismat…’, Ye Dil Ki Lagi Kum Kya Hogi…’ ….the synchronized steps of the students with a blend of different dance styles and the clippings on the screen depicting the time immemorial made this play a legendry one and left the audience asking for more moments to be added. This one hour performance left the audience rehearsing the unforgettable lines from the play. The Musical was written by Mrs. Iniz Manuel. The music was put together by Mr. Santosh Thapa. The costumes, sets and props were designed by Mrs. Seema Singh and Mrs. Reema Saklani. The dances were choreographed by Mrs. Shama Kukreja. The Computer Graphics were created by Mrs. Tripta Pant. The dialogue delivery, acting and direction of the play was conducted by Ms. Michelle Gardner and the play was recorded by Mr. Rajeev Massey. The performance of the students reflected the preparation and efforts that had been put into making the event a grand success. No doubt the team efforts have proved to be yet another milestone in the glorious journey of St. Jude’s School. We would urge all the students to be loyal to their school, what they receive here is intangible but priceless and will make them shine wherever they go. The programme culminated with the School song.
