RENDEZVOUS -Senior School : Group Discussion
On the 2nd of May 2024, a thought-provoking Group Discussion Competition in the Senior section was organised, our aim was to stimulate critical thinking amongst our Students. The topic of discussion was There is no justification for war. 12 participants representing four Houses engaged in an intellectually stimulating discourse, showcasing their ability to articulate, analyse, and persuade. Group Discussions serve as a platform for Students to hone their communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and collaborative spirit. By engaging in Debates on pertinent topics, students learn to express their thoughts coherently, consider multiple perspectives, and respectfully challenge each other's viewpoints. Moreover, it fosters teamwork, empathy, and the ability to constructively disagree with the various point of views. The participants exhibited commendable performance, demonstrating a deep understanding of the topic and presenting compelling arguments backed by evidence and logic. Each participant brought a unique perspective to the table, enriching the discussion with diverse insights and thought-provoking counterarguments. They showcased their ability to think on their feet, respond to opposing viewpoints diplomatically, and maintain composure under pressure. As the discussion drew to a close, participants summarized key points, highlighting the ethical, humanitarian, and strategic implications of war. They underscored the importance of diplomacy, conflict resolution, and fostering a culture of peace and understanding. The consensus emerged that while war may sometimes seem unavoidable, it should always be viewed as a last resort, with efforts towards peaceful resolution. The Judges declared Khanna House team as the Best team and Aviral Chhetri, The leader . The winning team exemplified exceptional teamwork, coherence, and depth of analysis, while the leader demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to steer the discussion efficiently. Overall, the Competition left a lasting impact on both participants and spectators, underscoring the importance of dialogue, and critical thinking in addressing complex global issues. It served as a testament to St. Jude's School's commitment to nurturing the individuals equipped to navigate an increasingly interconnected world with empathy, intelligence and integrity.
