Mindspree-2023-24 (Day-3) Inter -School, International & Folk Dance Contest

“To watch us dance is to hear our hearts express and see the feet create magic”
An Inter-School Dance competition was held 19th of August, 2023, at St. Jude’s School on Day 3 of ‘Mindspree’ an annual academic and creative platform organised by St. Jude’s School. It was a splendid showcase of cultural diversity and artistic expression.
The event’s theme “International Dance and Folk Dance” brought together various schools to celebrate dance forms from around the world.
A number of prestigious schools like Thomas’ College, Wynberg-Allen School, Mussoorie, Shri Ram Centennial School, St. Patrick’s Academy, Doon Presidency School, Carman Residential and Day School, The Presidency International School and Khrisht Jyoti Academy with about 111 performers enthusiastically participated in the contest, contributing to the vibrant cultural exchange through their captivating performances.
The event highlighted the internationally recognized dance forms and traditional folk dances that have been passed down through the generations.
The Chief Guest for the day was Mrs.Puneet Basur, Principal Bajaj Institute of learning.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr.R.V.Gardner, President, Board of Governors, and Mrs.V.R.Gardner, Director, St. Jude’s School, Mrs. & Mr.V.Jain, Mrs. & Mr. E.Barrett, Mr.Lalit K.Sharma,Mrs.Seema Singh and Mrs.Seema Issar.
The competition was adjudged by a panel of three distinguished judges Ms.Minal Vashisht, Ms.Arshleen Kaur, and Ms.Sweety Gusain.
The performance kicked off with an awe-inspiring welcome dance, setting the tone for what was to come.
The fun filled extravaganza featured an array of captivating dance styles like Flamenco from Spain, Dance from Hoedown country- USA, Tribal African Folk dance and Folk dancers from Mexico and Indonesia.
The Chief Guest Mrs. Puneet Basur, in her speech said, “Dance is a language of heart and soul.” Each performance was a testament to the performers’ dedication and training. The choreography, costumes and music together took the audience across the continents.
In the closely contested competition, the Winners were St. Jude’s School, but being the Host school they gave the trophy away to Wynberg-Allen School and the Runners-up were St. Patrick’s Academy .
The event was a resounding success leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
The three days’ annual academic and creative festival “Mindspree-2023” concluded with St. Jude’s School as the overall Winners. They were not competing for the Winners trophy so it was given away to St. Patrick’s Academy.
The day concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. M.Gardner, Principal, St.Jude’s School.
