Music is a universal language that transcends boundaries, cultures, and time. Its importance in our lives is profound, touching us emotionally, intellectually, and socially. The beauty of music lies in its ability to evoke emotions, connect people, and serve as a form of expression that enriches our lives in countless ways. The Late Mr. I.L.G. Mann Singing Contest is organized every year at St. Jude’s School in memory of the Late Mr. I.L.G. Mann’s love for melody. Mr. Mann was a living legend. It is a much-awaited day for every house, teacher and student who put in their best effort to make this program a success. The program was graced by our esteemed Principal Ms. M. Gardner and Mr. GIG Mann, Director, Carman School, Dalanwala. The Contest was judged by Mr. David Imbert and Mrs. Gracie Bhasin.
The event celebrated not only the richness of musical diversity but also offered a unique opportunity for the participants to gain exposure and recognition.
The Singing Contest was divided into three categories- Solo, Duet, and Group wherein the students had to sing songs from the 1970s.
In the Solo Singing Category, the first position was bagged by Shourya Aswal from Lyons House for the song ‘Dream On’. Anushree Pokhriyal, from Howard House, stood second. She sang the song ‘Country Road’. The third position went to Avni Devrani from Gardner House who sang ‘Gimme! Gimme!’, followed by Priyansh Prakash from Khanna House, who sang ‘Imagine’ for which he came fourth.
In the Duet category, the Winners were Parth Mishra and Vartika Khattri from Howard House who sang ‘Keh Dun Tumhe’. The second position went to Khanna House. Niswarth Arora and Kshitiz Walia from Khanna House sang ‘Ye Dosti’. In the third position were Harshit Kandwal and Itisha Bera from Lyons House who sang ‘Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein’ followed by Varnika Singhal and Kangana from Gardner House who sang ‘Panna ki Tamanna Hai’, for which they came fourth.
The third category was the Group Song Category. In this category, there was a tie for the first position between Gardner House and Lyons House. They sang ‘Chiquitita’ and ‘Dancing Queen’ respectively. The second position went to Khanna House who sang the song ‘Love Grows’. The Third position was given to Howard House for their song ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’.
