Debating is not just about winning, more importantly it's about listening to different perspectives and then forming your own opinion. Debating expands one’s horizons, sharpens one’s intellect and creates a platform for one to voice their opinions, challenge ideas and grow through constructive dialogue. Every debate is an opportunity to learn, to inspire and to ignite a change. Step up, speak out and let your Words make a difference.
With the same spirit of unwavering determination Arjit Solanki and Prakshal Jain represented St. Jude's School at Spectrum, the Inter-School Debate Competition organised by St.Thomas’ College, Dehradun.
Some well-known Institutions such as St. Joseph’s Academy, St. Thomas’ College, Summer Valley School and Carman School participated in the Event. Each team contributed their unique perspectives and arguments creating a dynamic and enriching exchange of ideas.
As the event unfolded the Judges, of the event were introduced. They were Mrs. Annie Pundir, Mrs.V. Kalia and Mrs. June Shepherd.
The Competition was divided into two rounds. The First Round followed the Oxford format where each participant had three minutes to present their arguments. The topic, Sports is a great career option, for Students had been provided a day before giving teams just enough time to prepare compelling arguments. St. Jude’s Team worked tirelessly the whole time under the guidance of our Respected Principal Maám, Ms. M. Gardner refining their arguments and perfecting their delivery to ensure a compelling performance. Each team displayed an impressive blend of knowledge and conviction setting the ground for a fierce Competition.
After the Completion of the First Round, it was time for the Turncoat Round testing the true capabilities of participants. The participant were given one minute to prepare their thoughts on the Topic. They then spoke for one minute in favour of the motion, followed by another minute against effectively turning the coat.
The Results of the Event were as follows; St.Jude’s School brought the Winning Trophy home while St.Joseph’s Academy were the Runners Up. In the Individual category, Prakshal Jain received the best Speaker against the Motion.
