Our Primary Children Celebrated Janmashtami with great enthusiasm
Posted on: 23 August 2024
Janmashtami, the festival marking the birth of Lord Krishna, is celebrated with great enthusiasm at St. Jude’s School every year. This year, on 23rd August 2024, a Matki Decoration event provided our primary school students with a delightful opportunity to express their creativity and artistic talents.
Students from each class eagerly embraced the challenge of decorating their matkis. With paints, glitter, beads, mirrors, and colourful fabrics in hand, the students of Class 2 transformed simple clay pots into stunning works of art. It was heartwarming to see the young students carefully painting and embellishing their matkis with such dedication.
The students learned that these decorated pots represent those used in the traditional 'Dahi Handi' event, where a pot filled with curd or butter is broken to celebrate Lord Krishna's love for butter. This connection deepened their understanding of the cultural significance of the activity, making it even more meaningful and enriching.
The students of Class 1 created a perfect blend by decorating their matkis with colours and pasting work. Their faces beamed with pride as their creations came to life, each one uniquely reflecting the imaginative spirit that Janmashtami celebrates so beautifully.
Meanwhile, our youngest students in Class KG decorated paper matkis with glitter and mirrors, adding their own sparkle to the event. Their enthusiasm and creativity brought a special charm to the decorations, and their efforts were admired by all.
This Matki Decoration event was not only an enjoyable and engaging activity but also a way for our young children to connect with their cultural heritage. It taught them the value of tradition and the joy of artistic expression.
