74TH REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION AT ST. JUDE’S SCHOOL
The 74th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm at St. Jude’s School. Today we remember the long journey of freedom and the struggles of the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for our Country. On this day in 1950 the Constitution of our Country was formally adopted and India became a fully Sovereign State. It took two years, eleven months and eighteen days to complete the Constitution which came into force on the 26th January, 1950. Thus, this day is celebrated as a day of national significance with great joy and pride. The St. Jude’s School Choir sang the beautiful ‘Vande Mataram’and a medley of patriotic songs. The students entertained the audience with a classical dance on Vande Mataram and ‘Rango Bati, a tribal dance of Orissa. The primary students danced on a medley of beautiful songs and the students of Classes III to V danced on ‘Desh Hamara’. The School Captain Anishka Karki and Rishabh Khuntia delivered their speeches in English and Hindi. They spoke about our glorious country and its achievements over the years. They stressed on the importance of every citizen of India to remember his/her duty to take care of cleanliness and to strive be better citizens of our country. Our Principal, Ms. M. Gardner, in her speech spoke about the various schemes like Beti Padho, Beti Bachoo, Digital India that have been implemented in India in order to help all citizens gain social and economic equality. She said we should be proud that we are part of a great grand Country and should work hard and continue to ensure India remains Saare Jahaan Se Acha. The Jonty Multipurpose Auditorium reverberated with the National Anthem as each face reflected the pride of being an Indian. The students happily returned home with chocolates in their hands and smiles on their faces.
