A vibrant and thought-provoking Rendezvous-Group Discussion Competition was organised at St. Jude's School on Thursday, the 7th of May 2026. Students from Gardner House, Howard House, Khanna House and Lyons House participated enthusiastically in the Event. The Topic for discussion was, has Social Media made this Generation more connected or more lonely? The Participants presented their views confidently and debated the issue with great enthusiasm and team spirit. Students raised several serious concerns regarding excessive dependence on technology and social media platforms. Some Participants remarked that applications like Instagram, Swiggy and Big Basket have made life highly convenient and increased connectivity but at the same time have reduced real human interaction and physical activity. Many Students strongly expressed that excessive screen time is making the younger generation lazy and turning them into couch potatoes, glued to their Mobile screens instead of engaging in Outdoor Activities and face-to-face conversations. Others highlighted how Social Media often creates loneliness despite virtual connections. The discussion was well presented and intellectually enriching. The marks were carefully recorded by Mr. P. Sahi, while the Event was efficiently controlled and coordinated by Mrs. Geetanjali Arya. At the end of the Competition, Astha Arya from Khanna House was declared the Best Initiator, while Yanhi Rautela was Awarded the title of Best Leader. Khanna House secured the First Position with the maximum marks, whereas Howard House and Lyons House jointly stood Second. The Event concluded successfully, leaving the Audience with meaningful reflections on the positive as well as negative impact of Social Media on today’s generation.
