The Event showcased the theatrical talents of Students from across all four houses, who brought timeless classics and contemporary works to life on stage. This year's competition centered around the theme All-Time Favourites, encouraging Students to explore and interpret plays that have stood the test of time. The theme provided an opportunity for young actors to delve into the rich tapestry of dramatic literature, from Shakespearean tragedies to modern comedies, while developing their understanding of theatrical performance and literary appreciation. The Event was graced by the presence of Ms. Michelle Gardner, Principal of St. Jude's School, Coordinators, and faculty members. The enthusiastic support from the School leadership underscored the Institution's commitment to fostering creativity and confidence through performing arts. The Competition was adjudicated by a panel of two renowned Judges, Ms. Michelle Gardner and Ms. Geraldine Banon, whose expertise in theatre and literature lent credibility and prestige to the proceedings. The four houses of St. Jude's School presented captivating interpretations of their chosen plays. Gardner House transported the audience to Renaissance Venice with their rendition of William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, tackling the complex tale of justice, mercy, and prejudice. Howard House brought humor and charm to the stage with Anton Chekhov's The Proposal, a farcical comedy about the absurdities of marriage negotiations in 19th-century Russia. Khanna House embraced the dark and brooding atmosphere of Shakespeare's Macbeth, presenting the tragic tale of ambition, guilt and the supernatural with intensity and dramatic prowess. Lyons House chose the witty and irreverent Rinse the Blood Off My Toga, a comedic murder mystery set in ancient Rome that kept the audience thoroughly entertained. Following the stirring performances, Principal Ms. Michelle Gardner announced the results amid great anticipation. The Competition witnessed exceptional performances from all houses, making the judges' task particularly challenging. After careful deliberation, Lyons House secured the coveted first position for their outstanding interpretation and execution of Rinse the Blood Off My Toga. The second position was awarded to Gardner House for their compelling performance of The Merchant of Venice, while Howard House claimed the third position for their spirited rendition of The Proposal, both demonstrating remarkable theatrical skills and creativity. Individual excellence was also recognized, with Arjit Solanki being presented with the Best Actor award for his compelling performance, while the four witches from Khanna House's production of Macbeth were honored as Best Actresses for their particularly memorable and impactful ensemble performance. In her address, Ms. Gardner commended all Participants for their dedication, creativity and Teamwork.
