St. Jude's Trio of Silver Medals Lights Up DPS Inter-School Badminton Championship
D.P.S School transformed into a powerhouse of athletic excellence as it proudly Hosted the Inter-School Badminton Championship for the Academic session 2026–27. Fourteen Schools from across the Region converged on the well-appointed courts, bringing with them their finest young athletes, their spirited supporters and an unwavering desire to compete at the highest level. The Tournament was structured across Six Categories -Under-12, Under-14, and Under-17 for both Boys and Girls, giving a broad platform to young shuttlers at every stage of their development. From the very First Matches, the courts crackled with energy, as players traded lightning-fast rallies and showcased skills that spoke volumes about the quality of coaching and dedication behind the scenes. DPS School lived up to its reputation as a premier sporting host, ensuring that every aspect of the Championship from court preparation and scheduling to officiating and hospitality was conducted with meticulous care. The venue witnessed some remarkable Badminton across all age Categories, with the Under-17 Events providing high-octane exchanges and the Under-12 Matches charming spectators with the raw, uninhibited talent of the youngest Competitors. School Principals, Coaches and Parents from all Fourteen Institutions were in attendance, creating an atmosphere that was both festive and intensely competitive, a perfect environment for young athletes to rise to the Occasion. Three Silver Medals in a single Tournament is not a coincidence - it is a reflection of consistent hard work and fearless competitive spirit. If one name defined St. Jude's School's campaign at this year's Championship, it was Dakshita Chhetri. A Competitor of exceptional composure and skill, Dakshita featured in not one but Two Silver medal-winning performances, etching her name in the Tournament's most celebrated moments. In the Under-14 Girls Singles Event, Dakshita navigated a demanding draw with poise and precision. Match after Match, she displayed sharp footwork, controlled smashes and a tactical intelligence that seemed to outthink her opponents. Reaching the Final was a testament to her consistency and though the Gold Medal narrowly eluded her, her Silver Medal was greeted with tremendous pride and applause from the St. Jude's contingent. Dakshita was not done there. Partnering with Supriya Bajpai in the Under-14 Girls Doubles, she returned to the court for another Final appearance. The duo complemented each other beautifully - Dakshita's aggressive baseline play combining seamlessly with Supriya's quick reflexes at the net. Together, they fought their way to the Final and claimed a Second Silver Medal for the School, making Dakshita one of the standout individual performers of the entire Tournament. In the Under-14 Boys Doubles, St. Jude's was represented by the impressive pairing of Utkarsh Negi and Shivang. The Two Boys displayed a remarkable understanding of doubles play - rotating efficiently, covering each other's positions, and keeping opponents under relentless pressure. Their serve-and-receive combinations were precise, and their ability to maintain composure during long rallies under pressure was the hallmark of their campaign. Advancing all the way to the Final, Utkarsh and Shivang gave a thoroughly creditable performance before walking away with a well-deserved Silver Medal. Beyond the podium finishes, the DPS Inter-School Badminton Championship 2026–27 was a celebration of youth sport at its finest. The Under-12 Categories filled the courts with infectious enthusiasm, the Under-17 Matches provided powerful, mature Badminton, and every participating school contributed to an atmosphere of healthy rivalry and mutual respect. All Fourteen Schools and their Student athletes deserve recognition for the effort, preparation, and sportsmanship they brought to the Tournament. The journey to a Final or simply the journey through a competitive draw builds character, resilience and a love for sport that lasts a lifetime. The DPS Inter-School Badminton Championship 2026–27 will be remembered as a landmark Occasion for St. Jude's School. Three Silver Medals Won by Four remarkable young athletes represent not just individual talent, but the collective effort of a School that takes its commitment to Sport seriously. Dakshita Chhetri's double Silver, Utkarsh Negi and Shivang's partnership in the Boys Doubles Final and Dakshita and Supriya Bajpai's Girls Doubles run are achievements that will inspire the next generation of St. Jude's athletes for years to come.
